to temperatures in the 20s across the interior valley. santa rosa with 28, napa 29, and livermore at 31 and san jose getting down to the mid 30s. what we have happening is on much cold air, the jet stream pushing to the south and the overnight chill is not going anywhere. by 11:00 p.m. tonight, temperatures will be in the 30s and 6:00 a.m. tomorrow, we will expect low to mid 30s in the interior valleys of the north bay. we will detail how long the cold nights will last and what our chances will be of any kind of rainfall in the seven-day forecast coming up. >> see you in a bit, thank you, jeff. construction crews cut in a gas line this morning causing a san francisco neighborhood to evacuate, it happened at the corner of 24th and bryant street. in the mission district. pg&e was at the scene. pg&e had to dig up the area around the line to turn off the gas and stop the leak. it took them a couple of hours to complete the repairs and restore service. >> also the north beach neighborhood is finally drying out. for most of the day, it was a wet mess. a water main break flooded the intersection. nea

will be down near the freezing markup in the north bay. 32 in santa rosa and flour in concord, and 36 in san jose. so, if you can get over the hump of the cold start, you will have a great tuesday. we will find temperatures jumping 30 plus degrees across the south bay. 64 in palo alto. and 60 in santa cruz and 65 in evergreen and back across the east bay, the freezing mark. pleasanton and 62 in alameda, san francisco, 63 and and close to 70 in santa rosa as we go through tuesday. as we look ahead toward the up coming weekend, never too early to look at saturday and sunday, we will find cloud cover increasing and unfortunately no rainfall in the forecast as we head throughout saturday and sunday. we need it, it's now the driest ever on record here. >> we need to do a rain drans. >> i guess i'm the one to do that. >> we will back you up. thank you. >> san francisco, taxpayers could end up footing the bill for the america's cup with six months before racing begins, efforts to bring in major donors have stalled. they have raised $14 million so far, that is less than half of what they need. clean

in santa rosa. 35 in napa. also, 33 in livermore. you'll do some scrapes on the windshields, back of the east bay and for the north bay. that's where we'll see the numbers going the coldest. as for tuesday, a huge surge in numbers. here's the great thing about the bay area and our microclimate. a 30-degree jump in temperatures. 61 in dublin. 61 in the castro valley. not as warm for the east bay. but the north bay, 66 in santa rosa. it's going to stay dry in the three-day forecast, all the way through thursday, even for this upcoming weekend. nothing in the way of rainfall. but by monday of next week, it clouds up. and by tuesday, a look ahead to some of the supersecret weather models. it does look like we may get some rainfall by next tuesday. right now, on track for the driest ever january and february since climate records have started for a good section of the bay area. did you say supersecret? >> i'll show you some time. >>> coming up, a former niner who ignited controversy during super bowl week is trying to change perception of him. >>> and the race to raise millions of doll

in the weather department, forget winter, it felt like spring. one of the warmest, walnut creek 70, santa rosa 68 and san jose 67, looks as if we are going to keep this mild stretch of weather here to friday. walnut creek expecting to go up a bit. not a whole lot. but great weather as we go to the end of the work week. that said, ten degrees above the average as we go to friday. temperatures are cooling off. let's go to the sky camera network and on this mid week forecast, the sky cameras, no other better way to tell you what is happening than this view right now. we have the haze back across the foothills of the valley, but clear directly above, now let's move up to the north, you can see in oakland, we have the moderate air quality, it looks in l.a. for some part tofs bay area. when it comes to the air quality, it's a familiar scene in the pollen and the moderate levels that get trapped in the valleys and back in the coast line, you see the pollution, that sa slight marine layer that is keeping you cooler in the beaches. let's go back to the weather mix. what we have happening is the storm trac

temperatures dropping off to 39, and 46 in santa rosa and 43 in san jose, and 43 in sunnyvale, let's go to the hd sky camera network. for a quick look here. and it is clear. but we have a bit of a onshore flow and cloud cover. this that will bring us patchy fog for the morning hours. as we look at the current pattern, we have the jet stream sitting across northern california and we will see several storm systems passing by. here comes high pressure to save us in time for the end of the work week forecast. sunshine coming back. and cloud cover and all and all, a nice forecast as we look ahead to the up coming weekend. we will start with 44 in san rafael, and 39 in san jose with 37 in los gatos. daytime highs on friday, it will be the warmest spread down here in the south bay. not as warm for the east bay, the warmest spot will be walnut creek at 63, 61 in livermore and upper 50s to near 60 back by the bay. san francisco with 61 and 65 expected in santa rosa. if you are heading up to tahoe, maybe an extended weekend coming your way. a slight chance of a snow shower, by saturday, temperatu

rosa. earlier upper 60s around parts of sonoma county. we have the winds out of the north. notice a bit of an on shore push as the weather system brings in more clouds tonight. i think there is enough lift to toss a chance of a few showers and maybe drizzle on the coast very early tomorrow morning. after that we are talking about a dry week. warming temperatures as we finish off february and move into march with more dry weather. you might notice a few of the high clouds coming by as high pressure temporarily gets dented by the weather system. it is not going to clear the way. we will see more clouds briefly. wednesday, thursday, friday the high will build back across northern california and give us a slight offshore wind pattern. for the bay area especially friday into next weekend inland valleys seeing 70s. this should be the first day of march. as we go into next weekend we will see 70s inland and temperatures staying mild. tomorrow morning maybe a few sprinkles or stray showers. after that mostly sunny skies and high clouds drifting through to go into tuesday. wednesday will probabl

santa rosa. police now say three men found dead inside a cabin in a wooded area were shot to death. tonight the hunt is on for their killer. the sheriff's department was called this afternoon to a property on ross station road near iron horse vineyard. the victims, all found dead inside one of the homes in that property. police of not released their identities or how they're-related. it does not appear it was a suicide. >>> police are looking for a man who tried to grab an 11-year-old girl. they say a man who looked similar to this sketch. they said she was on emerson street when the man grabbed her arm. she was able to get away and got home safely. snlt cities may have the last word. it appears unlikely the state supreme court will stop cities from banning medical marijuana dispensaries. the justices heard both sides today. they argued those bans conflict with the 1996 approved law that allows access to medical marijuana for people with prescriptions. the court will issue a ruling in the next 90 days. >>> it is an unusual road hazards. a runaway camel stopping traffic. that's a ca

developing. it's not too bad right now. six miles and/or less in santa rosa. but for tomorrow morning looks like the patchy fog at 2 miles and/or less would be confined right here to the north bay. let's take you live outside in the hd sky camera network. more of the poor air quality in the south bay, and then right up into emeryville, looking towards san francisco. and it's clear. we can't rule out a little bit of fog that will make it right across the golden gate bridge for tomorrow. let's get you back into the weather mix. high pressure offshore. this will keep it dry. we are just begging for some sort of raindrop. it looks like that ♪ is not going to be possible until some time next week. we have that coming up in the seven-day forecast for tomorrow. 50s and 60s, plenty of sunshine throughout the afternoon. and for those interior valleys, a mix of 60s, and then eventually some 70s coming in that seven-day forecast with a few 70s there. we think that will sort of pop on the weather board by thursday. if you do suffer from allergies, you'll want to get outside. you'll want to enjoy this

this time last night. 43 right now in napa. 46 in santa rosa. 47 in san jose and 44 in sunnyvale. let's get you outside of the hd sky camera network as we get you geared up for thursday. a little bit of haze, but not too much the way of low cloud coffer in san jose. from emeryville, looking to san francisco, it is so hard to see, but with our screens in here in the studio, those hd screens we have a slight marine layer back near the coastline. that will give us some fog near the coast, also for parts of the north bay. it's not expected to be a widespread event. so for tomorrow morning, i know a lot of you after the cold start we had today with 20 and low 30s want to know exactly how cold it's going to get. looks like the north bay is going to be one of the coldest again, but here again good news. not as cold as it was. 37 in santa rosa. 37 in napa. 41 in is only. and back towards santa cruz, also 39, with 43 in san francisco. daytime highs on thursday will be slightly warmer. we'll have plenty of sunshine by the afternoon. 60 in palo alto. 61 in los gatos. 59 in santa cruz. cooler back towa

coming up. 68 in santa rosa, 67 in san rafael. cooler back in the east bay after that the cold start with 63 in concord, 26 in livermore. quite a bit warmer down in the south bay. we got in on the 70s like dil gilroy at 72. feels more like late april and early may. santa cruz at 71. san jose at 6 and los gatos in the mid 60s. a few other spots that did reach into the 70s, we had scotts valley at 71, then you had cupertino at 70. san jose upper 60s. i want to put a pause on things for a moment. take a look at january winter extremes. anything unlike january should feel like here. throughout the entire month, the south bay has only had seven days of rain .69. we should have 2.081. with so much clear weather, the north bay has been stuck in the freezer. 16 days at or below 32 degrees and the average low is 37. at the coastline, this is where we put the wild twist on things. .at the coastline light offshore winds, that's where we had six days at 70 degrees and or above throughout santa cruz. outside of the sky camera network, there's the haze. the poor air quality we're under in the sant

in redwood city. 55 in san francisco. daytime high of 63 in santa rosa. we have 57 there. a happy birthday today, thanks for your information each and every day. those current temperatures are cooling off to the 40s in a few areas, 52 in napa. and back for the east bay, going to be in the 40s in no time. at least widespread 40s. already 49 at danville. 49 in walnut creek and 50 in pleasanton. outside to our live hd sky camera network and some of the cloud cover down in the silicon valley. you can see a lot of haze there as we move on up to the north and back to san francisco. there's also that marine layer at about 1,500 feet and cruising along pretty good that will keep fog in the forecast for tomorrow. san francisco is looking magnificent tonight. here we go. we have the storm system we're dealing with today that will continue off to the south and the east, and then we have this next player out here in the pacific. it is not a big storm system. i know a lot of you want heavy rain. your gardens need it. your lawns need it. it's not going to happen. as this storm gets close, it's not going

but not too bad. 39 in livermore, 39 in santa rosa and right now the wind for now still somewhat offshore at times, but we will see an onshore push sea breeze by this time tomorrow which means we're going to see cooling temperatures as we finish off the holiday weekend. the radar right now is dry and unfortunately that has been the story of 2013 so far as the semipermanent ridge of high pressure over northern california keeping things dry. the water vapor loop shows you most of the deep moisture riding up to the north and the mid level moisture, the high clouds we'll see at times which will filter the sun at times. the big pattern shift that's going to take place, mild start to the weekend and watch what happens as we get towards tuesday, a cold trough drops in from british columbia, almost a 20-degree drop in temperatures as we get out of the holiday weekend. during the day today you'll see high clouds at times filtering the sunshine and then coastal low clouds likely to return as we get into later on tonight on into your sunday as temperatures cool off for the second half of the weekend
